I have been supporting Greenpeace since 2008 because I believe in the organization and share the same vision of working for a better earth. Greenpeace is the only environmental organization that is independent and vocal about the protection and preservation of our planet.

I want my children to have a better future. I realize that this may seem futile, but I do believe that there are many others who also want to do something for the environment. Through I have seen how Greenpeace works by educating and enlightening people on environmental issues, as well going to the extreme to be able to prove a point. A good example is Greenpeace’s work on Indonesian forests.

It broke my heart to see what the forests have now become. I showed the Google Earth image of the decimated forests to my child and I wondered what the future holds for the next generation- will there be a rainforest still? I wish we could do more to save what’s left. I know that I cannot join in most of Greenpeace’s activities directly so I give all my full support in other ways, especially online.

I hope Greenpeace will continue to pressure the Indonesian government to protect our forests, the biodiversity and the indigenous communities from forest destruction and unsustainable practices. Indonesia has so many beautiful species of plants and wildlife and I think eco-tourism could be a viable solution. It is my hope that animals such as the Sumatran tigers, orangutans, anoas and cendrawasih birds remain in their forest habitats, and not in zoos, or worse, just in history books. I wish Greenpeace’s continued success in their campaigns and future endeavors.
